Quatrain of Heaven's Surprise

Heaven's surprise - might be ok

As I reverently approached the
Pearly Gates, I heard a
humble dog barking
so politely,

I traveled far to learn I must
share eternity with a dog,
I shook my head, tapped
the gate lightly.

The Holy dog came out to lick
my hand as if I were more
than welcome to come
in and chat.

Soon, God arrived and He told
me if I took care of the dog,
all my sins would be gone,
in nothing flat.
