Lifted Thumb - gone were you

I saw the handwriting on the
wall, but couldn't make
out what it
said,

I decided to stick with you
forever and not abandon
your love
instead.

But as I got closer the writing
became ever so clear
and easy to
read,

You wanted out from under
my thumb, I lifted my hold,
you left with great
speed.
