Quatrain of No Opportunity

No Opportunity - maybe in the next life

I have climbed the ladder of
success, the one where
opportunity stood
at the
top,

Half way up the rungs a step
broke, awkwardly I
landed on a low
economic
spot.

I tried a second time, but just
past the broken step I was
forced to pay
a high
tax,

With my inclination dwindling I
never found the opportunities
that were sold
as hard
facts.
