Passing By - opposite directions

Lest you buy an item from here,
and someone buys a
similar item from
there,

It is strange to observe they
might pass going in opposite directions at night,
unaware.

It would be much simpler if each
stayed where they are;
sold with no passing
thrill,

We wouldn't have to watch life go
past itself, economic activity
could continue, yet, stand
still.
