Space Shuttle, too old and no place to go

Alas! Space Shuttle flights have ended,
an American tear touches
down as sadness is
unfurled.

Our flag, once flew in space, but our
ideas on what to do next could
not envision a new
world.

The shuttle, harboring old technology,
antiquated, nothing futuristic
or immediately
impending,

Typical government, all excited in the
beginning, then innovation dies,
nothing left but
spending.
