Thenardite - a type of sodium sulfate


We met on arid soil without
my ever knowing you came
to me at God's
request,

I was a geologic gaper, too self
absorbed and willing to stare
to keep you under house
arrest.

When you escaped, I found
a love depression covering
my soul as thick as egg
white,

I went crazy and buried my
sins at the bottom of a salt
lake, under a layer of
thenardite.
