Quatrain of God's Skin
Skin - external covering
1.
I was an African before
I became an
Asian,
I was an Indian before
I became a
Caucasian.
I was young before
I went quietly over the
hill,
I had mountains of courage
before I lost my
will.
2.
My spirit was pure before
my race
mattered,
I was humiliated before
I was zestfully
flattered.
Humanity is fixated on
the membrane it
bares,
I am left to ask God,
just what skin He
wears.
