Quatrain of Last Mile
Last Mile - the end
1.
O sweetheart! Do me a favor,
now that your all grown
up,
Kiss my gluteus rump and
drink paint thinner from a
cup,
You gave away love's
secrets as if you enjoyed
spying -
Why whisper a prayer to
God to reject me as I lay
dying?
2.
My only fault: to live as
if all that mattered was my
pride,
I tried to push your thoughts
under diabolic water at high
tide.
Now here you are, staring in
my face with a refueling
smile,
Knowing I can never hurt again,
for I have walked my last
mile.
