Spreading Democracy - not by itself

Democracy does not spread
by itself, it must be
herded slowly
along,

Freedom is frightening to
anyone who has only
experienced a cattle
prong.

For the soul to wish for self
control it must be taught
how dossal cows
escape,

Democracy will remain corralled
unless a freedom ranch hand
swings the gates wide
agape.
