Quatrain of Iowa
Iowa (1846)
Lest you allow the farmer
several imperial rows
to plant his
corn,
Be it - he should embrace
your lifestyle if
idealism is not
shorn.
For 'tis the bounty of the
State that lies with
all inhabitants of
Iowa,
Is either worth as much
as a pot of gold or it
is not worth one
iota.
