Quatrain of Maine
Maine (1820)
Observe! "Land of the Frozen Ground",
the chill of biting reason left
between the seats of
logic,
Trained on sacramental spoils, watching
the movie of life dazzle hope,
quite frightfully
neurologic,
They count their blessings, one at a
time, and kneel to the creator
before taking their simple
needs,
Mainers are thankful of blessings
found, in a land so full of coveted
rewards, and neighborly good
deeds.
