Quatrain of Massachusetts
Massachusetts (1788)
Go thee, "near the hill", and
find the flavor of fresh
maidens prettied in a
row,
Deliver to me the taste of
honeysuckle with each thought
I can see on the
plateau.
Tis of fine attachment of your
favored will, the deepest
emotions in a land of
countenance,
Tis my home, my ambulatory
nature, from which my blood
finds its way into this
terrain of
omnipotence.
