Quatrain of Mississippi

Mississippi (1817)

Enriched by fertile soil,
infused with life giving water,
the trust I place in
thee.

This is the land of the giving,
the land of the Indian and a
prime location from the
sea.

The road to freedom has been
rocky, the territories in dispute,
the love of farming
life,

And settlers from all walks of the
world, have proudly sacrificed
much through their
strife.
