Quatrain of New Mexico
New Mexico (1912)
From the flat lands to the mountains,
from the lava flows to the ridges
where God's spirit
abides,
In the territory of rapture where
the faint cannot endure, the mind
has faith, the land
provides.
Cherished symmetry, from the sun to
the far plains, a life of redeeming
qualities I will not let
go,
I have set aside the clashes, of the
Cowboy and the Indian, to
reap the bounties of
New Mexico.
