Quatrain of Ohio
Ohio (1803)
Once part of the Northwest
Territory, where a holy benevolence
of furs gained
favor,
The worlds of human nature
collided and pride of the industrial
belt burst forth to
savor.
Ohioans put their collective noses
to the grind stone; churned out
goods in spite of
naysayers,
In the end, they lifted themselves
from immigrant boot straps
to priceless
taxpayers.
