Quatrain of Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania (1787)
O! Pennsylvania! Thy father of
our Nation, this, a revolutionary
land where courage meets the
coward,
I am revered to be a part of
lasting freedoms from God with
liberties our forefathers wisely
borrowed.
This history, the battles won, the
Gettysburg address, the papers
signed, live with me to this
day,
And I shall always feel compelled
to pay allegiance to the coastal
plain where I bow my head to
pray.
