Quatrain of Virginia
Virginia (1788)
From rich soil to lime stone,
my fidelity points to sanctified
beauty of a lovers
hand,
With mountains reaching for God,
with a history of puritan
ordination taking a
stand,
I am proud to be a Virginian and
I shall carry on the blessings
that have come down to
me,
For I shall maintain allegiance to
all battlefields and to the
foundational depth of
democracy.
