What I Was - yesterday

I would like to come back to
who I was before
life turned me
cold,

I was friendly to everyone,
no mean steak enlarging
as I grew
old.

The world has been cruel
to my soul, I've change
to combat its
ways,

If I could be what I once was,
I could give great credence
to me, as I was in the old
days.
